Making the Roulette Wheel in Fathom

go back to the Expected Value Page

I sure wish I could just make it downloadable, and eventually I will, but for now, we'll do it this way.

The Goal:

We want a collection with 38 cases: 18 red, 18 black, and 2 green. Then you need an attribute for how much you win if you get that number (+1 or -1). All the rest is fluff. (Good fluff, but not part of the math.) So you'll have a collection with TWO attributes. The first ("color") will have (text) values red, black, and green. The second ("winning") will have how much you win. In our example, you always bet on red, so if color is red, winning should be +1. It should be -1 if color is black or green.

One Great Strategy

If you don't want to just do it yourself, drag the little icon just left of the URL in your browser into your Fathom document. Fathom willl read the following table into your document as a collection:

(if you're using a different browser, the icon that you drag looks different)

The colored rectangles are beyond the scope of this document, but if you want to try, Open the inspector for the collection and go to the Display panel.
