The Model Shop

Come to this page for resources and other goodies relating to *The Model Shop* series.

Can "Volume One" be a series? No. But we have Volume Two in the oven, and live in hope that it will be done sometime ... soon.

*Functions from Geometry* contains 42 activities in which students measure lengths (or other quantities) on geometric figures; plot the measured values as data; and find a mathematical function to model the data.

The cover shows a spiral of triangles, and a graph of the lengths of the hypotenuses. What function fits the data? An exponential. Why an exponential? Because it works.

But more deeply, it works because the triangles are *similar*. Measure. Plot. Model. Understand. Data connects geometry and functions.
